How to make matcha
Soak the whisk in warm water for 5 minutes before first use to gently open the prongs.
Sift about ½ teaspoon (1.5 g) of matcha into the bowl.
Pour about 80 ml of hot water at around 175°F / 80°C. Boiling water makes matcha bitter.
Whisk in a quick M or W motion for 15–20 seconds until a fine foam forms.
Enjoy right away. For a latte, add warm or iced milk.
Caring for your bamboo whisk
Rinse only with warm water after each use. No soap, no dishwasher.
Air-dry on the whisk holder to keep its shape.
Replace the whisk when several prongs break or stop springing back.
Frequently asked questions
I'm a beginner. Is this set for me? Yes. The sifter and bamboo whisk solve the two most common beginner problems: clumps and bitterness.
Can I make iced matcha with it? Yes. Whisk the matcha in a little hot water first, then pour it over ice and cold milk.
Can I use a regular kitchen whisk instead? You can, but a bamboo chasen gives a much smoother, foamier cup without clumps.
